| Анотація: The article is aimed at explaining the diversity of uses associated with the path preposition "along", using the Construction Grammar theoretical framework. 7 distinct constructions, varying in their degree of schematicity, are shown to form a family of related constructions, based around the semantic value of the lexical unit "along" and the underlying pattern of the Locative construction. A separate case is made for the necessity of considering the immediate constructional context to better understand the contextual semantic constraints a unit posits or is being imposed on. |
