    The article investigates the English author’s fairy tale as a certain type of fairy tale and establishes its clear definition. A comparative analysis of the genre, stylistic and plot features of the English and Ukrainian fairy tales, and the system of their characters is carried out. On the basis of the original illustrative sources and their translation, the subject and compositional aspects of the English author’s fairy tale are explored and the relevance and importance of its further study is pointed out.
